The June 1 puzzle (1086). Tricky. Very tricky.
If you need answers for today or want hints for the Mini Crossword, Wordle Sports, or Strands. Look elsewhere. Actually, no, stay here. The blue group in today’s Connections entertained me. Why? Because I have an English major degree and this was pure gold.
Read the clues. Find the answers.
The Times has that Connections bot now. Like Wordle. You go there after playing to get your numeric score and have a robot analyze your brain. If you’re registered for Times Games, you can nerd out over stats. Puzzles completed. Win rate. How many perfect scores. Your win streak.
Let’s talk hints. Here they are, ranked from easiest yellow to purple nightmares.
Yellow hint. Aspects of a house. Simple enough.
Green hint. Sit back. Relax. Do it in a vintage style.
Blue hint. American playwright. Works.
Purple hint. Put this on your finger.
Wait. That purple hint? Bait. Pure bait.
The Actual Answers
Here is what you are actually looking at.
Yellow. Room features.
You found ceiling, door, wall, and window. Easy. Barely a warmup.
Green. Old-timey lounging accessories.
Newspaper, pipe, robe, slippers. You picture a grandpa from the 1950s. It fits.
Blue. Subjects in Tennessee Williams titles.
This one. This was good. Cat. Menagerie. Streetcar. Tattoo. You had to know your Williams. Or guess. I guessed. I felt smart afterward.
Purple. ___ ring.
Key, onion, tree, wedding. The hint said “finger.” The answer included onion rings. Tree rings. It’s a trap. Always a trap.
The hardest puzzles aren’t hard. They’re deceptive.
